Ryan D. Nowicki, the Foundation’s legal advisor, is an associate at the Los-Angeles-based law firm of Law Firm of Christensen Miller, Fink, Jacobs, Weil, Glaser & Shapiro, LLP. He is in the Firm’s Tax Department, where his practice focuses on domestic and international tax planning and tax controversy. Ryan is licensed to practice in the State of California, the District of Columbia, and before the U.S. Tax Court. He is also a member of the American Bar Association (Section of Taxation) and the Los Angeles County Bar Association.
Prior to joining Christensen Miller, Ryan was a member of the tax department at a major international law firm in Washington, D.C. and also served as a Legislation Counsel Extern for the Congressional Joint Committee on Taxation. While at the Joint Committee on Taxation, he provided technical and policy advice to Members of Congress and Congressional committees concerning tax legislative proposals. Ryan also has experience with counseling high net worth individuals, closely-held businesses, and charitable organizations with their tax planning at a major international accounting firm.
While attending Georgetown University Law Center, Ryan was selected as one of six students in the U.S. to participate in an international tax conference in Paris, France with representatives from several nations of the European Union. Further, while attending the University of San Diego School of Law, he was a member of the Appellate Moot Court Board and served as an articles editor for the Journal of Contemporary Legal Issues .
