My Life With Drugs

It started out when I was in 9th grade when a girlfriend got me to try some pills. From there it just got worse. I started to smoke pot, and then got into harder drugs like meth, coke, ecstasy, etc.

My first run in with the law was two years ago when I was arrested on charges of having paraphernalia and being a minor in possession of alcohol. After that, I was more sneaky, but knew in the back of my head that the cops knew my face.

I ran away last August to live with my drug dealers for about three months. However, I missed my family so much during that time that I ended up going home. Who would think that running away would come to bite me in the a--!

I was arrested on the Fourth of July for possession of cannabis. You thought I would have learned by now, right? Wrong! This is what happened

I was drinking with some friends and needed to be home by 11, so I called my friend who had just gotten off work to come and get me. It turns out that his parents had taken his car away from him, so he and his girlfriend came and picked me up in her car. On the way home, his girlfriend was talking on the phone and not really paying attention to the road. With my luck, we got pulled over and when the cops saw my record they asked to search the car. During the search, the officers’ canine sniffed out the weed and xanax that my friend was carrying in his backpack. No time was wasted. They took my friend and me to jail. Later they found more sacks of marijuana stuffed in my shoe. This time I was charged for possession with intent to sell, only to be released on bail, after my mom dropped $5,000 to bail me out.

After reading the stories of Dustin Babcock and Brent Shapiro, I have made a decision to stop selling pot and to stop smoking it. More so, I am never going to take another prescription pill again.

Thank you for reading my story. I hope others learned what I did – it is not a game.

The disease of alcohol and drug dependency, and it is a disease, is suffered in silence. Those who have it or have a special person close to them suffering from it, hide it from the world due to embarrassment, shame, and humiliation, and endured it in isolation and silence. This, despite the fact that this disease affects almost every family in America in some way from family members, loved ones, friends, co-workers and even as a taxpayer carrying the enormous social costs of this disease.

Help us in this critical mission to give the disease of alcohol and drug dependence a voice. We need your help to give those affected a safe place to come and meet others going through the same thing; and encourage honest discussion among all the parties touched by this disease.
